More Pictures!

September 25, 2009 by benemily

Oh my gosh!  We took more pictures this week!  We were very busy last weekend with socializing.  It was Idul Fitri (aka Eid al Fitri) which is the end of Ramadan and the biggest holiday of the year.  Everyone cooks food and opens their doors to visitors for two days.  We had fun and got to try some new Indonesian food.

This weekend has started off sunny and warm and Diana and Ben went for a walk around the neighborhood and visited with a few friends while Emily took a trip to Family Shopping to buy some groceries for the week. Later today we are all going to a 7th birthday party for the daughter of one of Ben’s coworkers.  We plan to stay as long as we can – which will probably be around 30 minutes!  We also have plans to go to Brunch at the Lupa Lelah Club tomorrow with another of Ben’s coworkers and his wife who are both engineers at the mine.

The pictures this week highlight the differences between what Emily sees on a normal day and what Ben sees on a normal day.  (Although, there are no pictures of Emily changing diapers and Ben really likes working underground.)

Together again

September 16, 2009 by benemily

Em and Diana made it back to Tembagapura on Saturday, and got to ride the helicopter for the last 15 minutes of the long trip. Both were pretty dazed, but perked up back at the apartment. Diana even got on her nap schedule right away, and has slept through the night without a peep every night since she’s been back. She’s even developed a few new tricks since she’s been back. She has a “ow” face for when she pinches her fingers in the drawers, and she sometimes makes it in anticipation, just to see if mommy will fawn over her. She’s had a lot of grown up food now that she’s one too – a grilled cheese sandwich, chicken satay, and spaghetti were on the menu this week, along with coconut milk squash and scrambled eggs. She’s loving getting to eat what we do, and having more texture to her food. She’s also tried cow’s milk a few times, and isn’t quite sure what to think of it. She’s learning and discovering new things every day, so we’re glad to be together as a family again.

What? No baby pictures?!?

September 9, 2009 by benemily

Since Diana and Emily aren’t around, here are some photos from work! I really enjoy working underground and usually wish I wasn’t on the computer so much. At least I feel like I am helping the geologists communicate with the engineers – which is often a challenge even when everybody speaks the same language. Diana and Emily return home on Saturday, so there will be more baby pictures soon…
