The little house in Morenci has been empty for almost two weeks now – the movers came and packed up all of our things while we looked on nervously. It was a stressful two days (in which we also sold both of our vehicles), and we were all relieved once it was over. After leaving Morenci, we made a stop in Tucson for two nights to visit with friends and have two wonderful final meals (complete with champagne and fine wine).
Emily and Diana hopped on a flight east, and only got delayed in the Chicago ice and snow for about eight hours. Both were quite grumpy and tired when they finally got to Vermont, but have been enjoying a snowy week in Vermont since. Emily has been stocking up on a few essential (and a few frivolous) baby items and visiting with her family and some old neighborhood friends. Her friend Anne from St. Louis also was out for a visit which was a great treat.
Ben has one last day of work in Morenci, and then starts 2009 fresh by heading to Vermont to meet up with Em and Diana. Then we all head to Michigan for a visit with Ben’s family and friends. We leave the country on January 10th (assuming all works out well with the visas), and are looking forward to a short stopover in Bali to decompress before heading on to our new home in Tembagapura, Indonesia.
We’re really looking forward to getting our new apartment set up (and hopefully having some of our things waiting there for us when we get there!). Hope to hear from you/Skype with you all soon!
